Day 2 of 21 days

Three reflections from today's reading in Mark 2

v.5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”
Lord , give me the kind of faith that takes bold action.

v.14 “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Levi got up and followed him.

I was reminded when I made the decision to pursue ministry instead of business I felt the Lord say "Follow me and I  will make you a fisher of men"

v.22 "New wine calls for new wineskins.”
This is so true for today. Every generation and culture of believers must evolve progressively to share the gospel. We have to make way for the new.

Good Progress

OK, by the end of yesterday all the song files had been exported off Radar, most of the old OS9 Pro tools sessions had been copied and saved to the new PT 7.4 format. Hooked up the Mac 2100 power amp and Auratone T6 monitors while the Mackies are down. Dug up the mics and line checked the pre's on the Digi 003.

That was about 4 days of work. Consolidating the old PT sessions with the new is a real challenge to get the files synced.

Next goal is to record percussion and string OD's with Chris Lowery at the end of the week.

21 Days of Prayer

At Belmont Church we've begun a 21 day season of prayer which will culminate on Pentecost Sunday. We'll have an evening prayer & worship service on May 31 as part of the Global Day of Prayer.

In this weeks Belmont Bible reading plan is Mark 1. "Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight". v. 4 "John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins" Later in verse 15 Jesus declares "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

So my prayer today is - Lord, purify my heart.

Good news

Got the Radar drive to work, now I can keep transferring the basic track audio files. Then I'm putting them into Pro Tools (7.4) sessions. There's about 110 song files on Radar and I'm about 85% finished with this step.

Songs for this  project:
1) Say Goodbye To Yesterday
2) A New Day
3) What Words Can't Say
4) Near To The Heart of God
5) Honor and Majesty
6) Heavens Song Suite
7) Yeshua
8) Jesus
9) Never Alone
10) Breakthrough

All the basic tracks are in the can, we need to finish vocals, overdubs and mix.

Joy Joy Joy

Today's happy saga continues ...

So I'm happily transfering files all week from Radar to my Mac's external hard drive when - it all freezes. The Radar freezes, the Pro Tools freezes. Now, 3 hours and multiple re-boots, and a call to the nice folks at Radar - nothing wants to work anymore. Radar can't mount the recording drive, "it's toast". Pro tools locks up every time I open it.

Joy, pure joy. I will so celebrate when this project is a finished masterpiece.

Better late than never

Ok, this is a very random post. The blog has been dormant for what ... 3 years ? My real life has been so busy I've had no time to  engage in it on-line. But as I've been working on getting the studio put back together, I thought , what the heck, blog about it. So we're just hitting the reset button and rockin on. Eventually I'll update the blog links and web site. But right now I'm gonna riff  about progress on the new CD and whatever comes to mind.

Here's today's studio pic:

Aye yi yi, what a complicated mess. This is truly putting humpty dumpty back together again. To make a long sad story short, I tracked a bunch of songs on Radar, DA-88 and old ProTools (OS9)  back in the day and have yet to finish the production on them. My goal is to finish 10 songs for the "new" album - "What Words Can't Say" by the end of October, just in time for Christmas.

The problem is when we moved it's almost impossible to get all this stuff functional again. MTC. MMC. digital patch bays, punch blocks, patch bays - all a mess. The challenges are many fold, highly technical, and on-going. The amp on one of my Mackie HR24 died, so I've got to get that repaired. Now the console randomly does & doesn't stay powered. It's a Mackie D8b, nobody works on them anymore and seems like it's next life will be as a boat anchor.

The good news is I'm making progress transfering everything to my new Pro Tools Rig. Here's a screen shot from one of the songs, "Breakthrough":

Sounds great, doesn't it? I'll keep this blog updated on the rest of the production. Till next time, via con Dios.

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. Psalm 118:17

I’m in Budapest chilling as I write this. First “free time” I’ve had since Christmas.

This is a quick note to my friends and readers of the blog to let you know we’re alive and mostly well. We’ve had a very intense and  stress filled year. I've been so busy in my “real life” that there’s been no time or energy for my “on-line” life.

Here’s some highlights:

April – Ivalene recovers from reconstruction surgery (She's beautiful!)
May 2006 – Missions teaching trips to Herrnhut Germany and Novi Sad, Serbia (God stuff)
June – Sell house/studio and move (Ugh!!!!)
July – Sozo festival in Hungary (Fun but exhausting)

I’ll be in Romania next week teaching theology of worship. Back to the States August 7.

These are some Sozo pics from Denise’s blog http://denisej.blogspot.com/ (thanks Denise!). I think they look better when you click on them.

A New Day - Happy New Year!

Just in time for starting the new year with a new attitude, here's an MP3 rough mix of my song "A New Day" coming up on the new CD "What Words Can't Say".

May 2006 be a year of inspiration for you. Every day is really is "A New Day" for those of us who are new creations in Christ Jesus!

Download "A New Day".mp3 - and crank it up!

A New Day

Verse 1:
Praise to the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for battle
Prepare my heart and mind for war
You are my strength, my shield, my fortress and protection
Arise Oh God and show yourself great

CHORUS:
        It’s a new day
For the power of God to be displayed
        It’s a new day
For the love of Christ to be proclaimed
        It’s a new day
For the people of God to rise  and pray
        It’s a new day
And with the love of Jesus to light the way
        It’s a new day, It’s a new day
Verse 2:
Give me a willing spirit, to only do your pleasure
Release your energy in me
Raise up a holy army with singleness of vision
Make us brave of heart, we’ll overcome by faith

Repeat CHORUS , then tag:

This is the day for a new dedication,
This is the day for a bold declaration
This is the day of the Lord’s salvation
This is the day of liberation

For every tribe and for every nation,
there’s gonna be a royal invitation
To worship the King in holy adoration
singing the song of jubilation

This is the call for this generation
This is the call for reconciliation
To honor the Lord of all creation
This is the day of liberation

It’s a new day!

The Meaning Of Christmas

With all the hubabub about replacing "Merry Christmas" with "Happy Holidays", maybe my Christmas song ""The Meaning of Christmas" is timely. Here's an Mp3:  Download themeaningof_christmas.mp3

The Meaning of Christmas
Long ago and far away
God as a baby in a manger lay
Seekers and sages sought him in that day
And those who found him were forever changed

And the meaning of Christmas is Christ was here
History forever changed when God as man appeared
Well it’s a mystery of fact and faith
But it’s very clear that
Jesus changes everything

As the prince of peace he was innocence
But to the prince of this world he was violence
He said God is love and kind and just
And his Son brings forgiveness
Well he said he was the truth, the light and way

And the meaning of Christmas is Christ was here
History forever changed when God as man appeared
It’s a mystery of fact and faith
But it’s very clear that
Jesus changes everything

Well he’s a liar, or a lunatic
Or he’s everything he claimed
Then truly he was the Son of God

Born of a virgin,
Lived a perfect sinless life
He was crucified for the sins of all mankind
But he rose from the dead
And now he rules at the right hand of the Father in heaven
To judge the living and the dead

Well the quest for truth still lingers today
And the question of eternity remains the same
What is the difference that Jesus Christ has made
for you, my friend? Well would you say that …

The meaning of Christmas is Christ was here
History forever changed when God as man appeared
It’s a mystery of fact and faith
But it’s very clear that
Jesus changes everything

He was more than a nativity,
or long forgotten history
Jesus
still the King of Kings
